Patrick McGovern serves as the Assistant Technical Director and Master Electrician of the Theatre Department. There he supports the Scenery, Lighting, and Sound areas in the mounting of productions, with responsibilities including wood and metal construction, electrical, automation, rigging, and digital fabrication. Currently, Patrick implements much of the practical lab training in Scenery and Lighting areas, as well as managing the student employees for the department. He also provides technical and maintenance support to the Theatre department and the PAHB. Before joining UMBC, he worked at the Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago and Syracuse Stage in Upstate New York. He spends much of his free time working with external theatre companies, mounting several shows a year in the Baltimore/D.C. area.
