Shelley Steffens Joyce joined UMBC in 1990, after working in professional theaters around the country, including The Goodman Theatre in Chicago, The McCarter Theatre in Princeton, New Jersey, Arena Stage in Washington, The Folger Theatre in Washington D.C., Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, Center Stage in Baltimore, and Indiana Repertory Theatre. As a member of I.A.T.S.E. Local 487 she has worked on major motion pictures and television shows in the Baltimore/Washington area, including Homicide, Life on the StreetsWashington Square with Maggie Smith and Albert Finney, and Contact with Jodie Foster, and John Waters’ Cecil B. Demented. She teaches Introduction to Costume, Costume Production Techniques, Draping, and Pattern Drafting, in addition to draping costumes for Theatre Department productions.
