Gerrad Alex Taylor is an award-winning director and actor based out of the greater Baltimore region. In 2021, he was named one of Baltimore’s “40 Under 40” by the Washington Business Journal. He holds a BA in Neuroscience from Johns Hopkins University and an MFA in Performance from University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Gerrad leads Chesapeake Shakespeare Company’s Black Classical Acting Ensemble, an affinity space for Black artists in Baltimore created to examine the classical theatrical system and interrogate what more equitable practices may look like moving forward in the 21st century.

He has also worked as an actor, director, and educator for theatres and educational institutions across the country including the Great River Shakespeare Festival, St. Louis Shakespeare Festival, Pacific Conservatory Theatre-PCPA, North Carolina A&T, Everyman Theatre, Mosaic Theatre Company, Constellation Theatre Company, Arena Stage, Studio Theatre, and Washington Stage Guild.

He is a member of the Actor’s Equity Association and the Society of American Fight Directors.
