How to Apply to UMBC Theatre

  1. FIRST: For both incoming Freshmen, and Transfers, start by applying to UMBC.
    1.  When applying, please indicate Acting (BFA) or Theatre (BA) as your preferred major.
  2. NEXT: After you’ve applied to the University, please be sure to complete any other prerequisite screenings for admission to your major:
    1. Admission to the BFA in Acting program is contingent on an audition and interview.
      1. Learn more about BFA Acting auditions, and sign up for your audition and interview here.
    2. Admission to all BA in Theatre Tracks (Theatre Studies, Design and Production, or Theatre Education) is granted based off of admission to the University. No further portfolio review, audition, or interview is required.
  3. OPTIONAL: We encourage all incoming Freshmen pursuing Theatre, in any major or track, to apply for the Linehan Artist Scholars Program, a prestigious scholarship program for the arts.
    1. The Linehan Artist Scholars Program requires its own separate, written scholarship application.
