Audience Guidelines

  1. YOU ARE PART OF THE SHOW
    1. Theatre is a live experience—that means the actors can see and hear you. Your energy helps create the performance in real time. Great audiences make great theatre.
  2. DURING THE SHOW
    1. What to DO
      1. React! Laugh, clap, and enjoy the story
      2. Stay focused—important moments can happen anytime
      3. Whisper only if needed
      4. Stay seated so everyone can see and hear
    2. What to AVOID
      1. No phones or screens (they distract actors and audience)
      2. No talking over the actors
      3. No kicking seats or putting feet up
      4. No getting up unless it’s an emergency
  3. BEFORE THE SHOW
    1. Use the restroom ahead of time
    2. Silence all devices
    3. Keep bags and belongings tucked away
  4. AFTER THE SHOW
    1. Show appreciation with big applause
    2. Talk about your favorite moments after the performance
    3. You can meet the actors in the lobby after the performance
  5. FOR CHAPERONES
    1. Please sit among students
    2. Model strong audience behavior
    3. Address disruptions quickly and quietly
    4. Help students stay engaged and present
