Audience Guidelines
- YOU ARE PART OF THE SHOW
- Theatre is a live experience—that means the actors can see and hear you. Your energy helps create the performance in real time. Great audiences make great theatre.
- DURING THE SHOW
- What to DO
- React! Laugh, clap, and enjoy the story
- Stay focused—important moments can happen anytime
- Whisper only if needed
- Stay seated so everyone can see and hear
- What to AVOID
- No phones or screens (they distract actors and audience)
- No talking over the actors
- No kicking seats or putting feet up
- No getting up unless it’s an emergency
- What to DO
- BEFORE THE SHOW
- Use the restroom ahead of time
- Silence all devices
- Keep bags and belongings tucked away
- AFTER THE SHOW
- Show appreciation with big applause
- Talk about your favorite moments after the performance
- You can meet the actors in the lobby after the performance
- FOR CHAPERONES
- Please sit among students
- Model strong audience behavior
- Address disruptions quickly and quietly
- Help students stay engaged and present
