Acting Minor Degree Requirements (21 Credits)

Acting Minor Core: (15 Credits)

  • THTR 110: Introduction to Acting OR THTR 220: Craft of Acting 1** (3 Credits)
  • THTR 120: Introduction to Theatre: Theory and Production (3 Credits)
  • THTR 221: Craft of Acting 2 (3 Credits)
  • THTR 222: Vocal Training for the Actor 1 (3 Credits)
  • THTR 229: Movement for the Actor 1 (3 Credits)

** = Acting Minors are encouraged to take THTR 220: Craft of Acting I to satisfy this requirement.

Acting Minor Requirements: (3 Credits)

  • One of the Following:
    • THTR 223: Vocal Training for the Actor 2 (3 Credits)
    • THTR 239: Movement for the Actor 2 (3 Credits)
    • THTR 305: Theatre Ensemble 1 (3 Credits)
    • THTR 324: Craft of Acting 3 (3 Credits)

Elective: (3 Credits)

  • Complete a minimum of 3 credits of any THTR 300- or 400-level course. Courses taken under Core Courses may not count or the Electives unless retaken for repeatable credit.

Additional Minor Requirements:

  • Minimum grade of “C” in courses applied to the minor.
  • Minimum 12 credits completed in residence at UMBC.

    • THTR 350: Directing 1** (4 Credits)
    • THTR 371: Playwriting (3 Credits)

** = Theatre Arts Minors interested in taking THTR 350: Directing 1 need to take THTR 344: Script Analysis as their required elective.

Elective: (3 Credits)

  • Complete a minimum of 3 credits of any THTR 300- or 400-level course. Courses taken under Core Courses may not count or the Electives unless retaken for repeatable credit.
