Biography

Adam Mendelson is a Baltimore-based lighting, sound, and multimedia designer and educator. He currently serves as the Associate Teaching Professor of Lighting, Sound and Digital Media Design at the University of Maryland- Baltimore County where he has designed more than 50 productions over the last 14 years. Recent Lighting Designs Include: The Amish Project (Pepper Theatre, Munich Germany); The Sound Inside (Everyman Theatre); The Logan Festival of Solo Performance, The Piano Lesson and Shutter Sisters (1st Stage, Tyson’s VA); Tiny Lights (Theatre J); Metamorphosis (Folger Theatre, Associate Designer); I Will Eat You Alive (Interrobang Productions @ The Voxel); Halluci Nation Video Shoot (Kennedy Center). Regional Sound Designs: Young Americans (1st Stage); Dawn and The Book Club Play (Everyman Theatre), Joe Turner’s Come and Gone (Chesapeake Shakespeare Company); Falsettos and Songs for a New World (Rep Stage). Adam is the Vice-Chair of the OISTAT Lighting Sub-Commission. He has created workshops on all types of Temporal Designs and Technologies at conferences and festivals around the world including Scandlight – Stockholm, Sweden; World Stage Design – Sharjah UAE; OISTAT Symposium in Kaohsiung, Taiwan; USITT National Conferences (multiple years and locations); State High School Thespian Festivals in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Texas, Arizona, Delaware, and Colorado; and American College Theatre Festivals (multiple years and locations).
